CEU, host St. Paul pace basketball competition

Seven-time seniors defending champion Centro Escolar University and host St. Paul College Pasig show the way with their unbeaten records in the 49th WNCAA basketball tournament.

CEU streaked to its third win with an 87-32 win over University of Makati on Sunday (Sept. 30) at the St. Jude Catholic School gym.

St. Paul downed St. Stephen's High School, 50-15, while De La Salle Zobel stopped San Beda College Alabang, 49-39.

St. Paul shared the midgets lead with idle defending champion Miriam College at 2-0 but DLSZ is not too far behind at 2-1.

Also in the seniors level, Philippine Women's University dealt SBCA its first loss in four starts with a 77-47 victory and University of Asia & the Pacific barged into the win column after four tries when it moved past St. Scholastica's College, 25-19.

SBCA kept second place at 3-1 behind CEU and PWU improved to 2-1.
