Defending champs, CEU, host St. Paul stretch win streaks
De La Salle Zobel and San Beda College Alabang, all eyeing third consecutive championships, kept their unbeaten streaks going in the 49th WNCAA volleyball competition at Rizal Memorial Coliseum over the weekend (Oct. 6-7).
SBCA rallied to beat University of Makati, 20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-12, 15-8, for a 4-0 record in the seniors division.
Centro Escolar University matched SBCA's mark with a walkover win over St. Scholastica's College while Philippine Women's University swept Assumption College, 25-15, 25-20, 25-22, for a second-running 4-1 card.
DLSZ and host St. Paul College Pasig pace the midgets level with 5-0 cards following wins over Miriam College (25-15, 25-19) and St. Stephen's High School (25-5, 25-13), respectively.
In the juniors division where DLSZ is also the reigning champion, the Junior Archers tote a 4-0 card in Junior A after a 25-8, 25-19, 25-17 stoppage of the SBCA Red Lions.
Idle La Salle School Antipolo leads Junior B with a similar 4-0 record.
Meanwhile, PWU continues to lead the seniors futsal division at 3-0, when it nipped defending champion Assumption, 2-1, at the SPCP gym.
DLSZ and Miriam are also unscathed in juniors play at 3-0 as they overpowered St. Jude (13-0) and St. Paul (11-1), respectively.
