Miriam sweeps basketball elims; juniors Final Four cast complete 

Defending midgets champion Miriam College competed a four-game sweep of the elimination round while juniors holder Chiang Kai Shek College led the march to the semifinals of the 49th WNCAA basketball tournament at St. Jude Catholic School gym over the weekend (Oct. 13-14).

Miriam beat host St. Paul College Pasig, 57-47, and automatically clinched the first finals seat.

St. Paul will take on St. Stephen's High School and De La Salle Zobel will mix it up with San Beda College Alabang this Sunday, Oct. 21, in the quarterfinals. The winners will tangle for the right to challenge Miriam.

In the juniors quarterfinals, CKSC downed Miriam, 76-49, and will battle La Salle College Antipolo, which ousted Poveda, 51-35.

The other semifinal duel with be between DLSZ, which took out St. Paul 81-27, and St. Jude, a 58-53 winner over San Beda.

The juniors semifinal is slated on Nov. 10.

Centro Escolar University also moved within one game of sweeping the six-game elims after trouncing Assumption College, 100-16.

Philippine Women's University mowed down University of Asia & the Pacific, 76-39, for a 4-1 card. It can clinch the No. 2 seeding if it prevails over Assumption, also this Sunday.
